Kermetico HVAF and HVOF thermal spray equipment

The Kermetico Mini-Air Powder Classifier (Metal Powder De-Duster) for a Thermal Spray Shop

Classification Equipment to De-Dust Metal Powders for Thermal Spray and Laser Cladding

The Kermetico Mini Air Classifier (MAC) separates fine particles or dust from the rest of the powder batch.

It is a simple, economical and efficient system to:
a) clean the powder of unwanted fines (for instance, in thermal spraying or powder metallurgy)
b) separate small-size particles (1 –20 microns)

A Principle of Operation of the Powder de-Duster

In the tower of the MAC, powder flows through a number of sloped plates by the force of gravity.

A controlled amount of air flows in the opposite direction (upstream), catching the fine particles and carrying them out of the tower to the cyclone of a dust collection system.

The air flow rate controls the size of separated particles.

The balance of the powder falls down into the steel bucket under the tower.

The air flow rate is controlled by a flowmeter.

An electromagnetic shaker provides stable and even flow of the powder through the de-duster.

A ball valve under the feeding hopper controls the rate of powder feeding into the MAC.

Our main business – designing and manufacturing HVAF and HVOF thermal spray equipment to improve a thermal spray job shop profitability. Please take a moment to review the following HVAF information.

The Description of our HVAF Process

The Kermetico HVAF (High Velocity Air Fuel) systems spray powders, heated and accelerated by the air-fuel gas combustion products.

When entering the gun, the compressed air cools the chamber and the nozzle assembly.

The mixture of pre-heated compressed air and the chosen fuel gas flows into the combustion chamber through the orifices of a catalytic ceramic insert.

The initial ignition of the mixture results in the heating of the insert above the mixtures’ auto-ignition temperature, and then the hot insert continuously ignites the mixture.

The spray powder is injected axially into a wide combustion chamber. The powder exiting the chamber is propelled into the nozzle of chosen length and configuration, where it is accelerated to a velocity that may be over 1,000 m/s (3,300 ft./sec.) When impacting a substrate, the spray powder particles form a coating.

Kermetico HVAF & HVOF Thermal Spray Coating Equipment

We design and manufacture three families of HVAF and HVOF thermal spray equipment.

  • Convertible HVOF and HVAF equipment:
    • C7 – an HVAF/HVOF gun for large parts
    • C6 – a general purpose HVAF-HVOF gun
  • Multi-purpose HVAF AK systems, with a variety of spray guns:
    • AK7 – a high-power gun for the thermal spray of large parts
    • AK6 – a universal gun to spray a balanced mix of parts in a job shop
    • AK5 – a compact gun to spray smaller parts, thin walls and complex surfaces
    • AK-ID – an 80 mm (3.15”) and larger internal diameter spray gun
    • AK-IDR – a rotating ID gun to spray 4” (100 mm) and larger bores
    • AK-HH – a handheld gun for on-site coating
  • Specialized HVAF equipment:
    • SL – a specialized gun for spraying low melting point metals
    • SP – a specialized gun for the most efficient precious metals’ deposition
    • STi – a specialized gun for the deposition of titanium and Ti-alloy coatings

Kermetico, Inc. – HVAF and HVOF Equipment Design and Manufacture Since 2006

We make different spray guns for different applications.

Please check the full spectrum of our equipment here.

Our HVAF& HVOF  systems operate each of our guns or multiple guns at once (by request).

We supply two types of control consoles and a variety of powder feeders and gas vaporizers.

We proudly design and produce our thermal spray equipment in California, USA, and install it around the world.

You can visit our R&D center in Benicia, CA to meet our designers and see our HVAF & HVOF equipment in action.
